About Charles

Charles has been part of the Hillview ADHC community since September 2024. Cheerful and easy-going, he enjoys spending his days with familiar faces, joining in activities and sharing a good conversation. When asked what he values most about coming to Hillview, he sums it up in one word: “uplifting.”

Exercise and having companions to play games with have been highlights from the beginning. Charles enjoys activities that keep his hands and mind busy, from learning to knit to potting plants. He also likes a game of Pokeno, especially when he can enjoy it alongside friends.

Friendship is an important part of Charles’s week. He has a regular group of friends at Hillview, and he finds that chatting with the people around him helps boost his energy. He is proud of the progress he is making with his conversational skills, with everyday opportunities to talk, listen and connect.

Away from Hillview, Charles remains an active member of the Rotary Club. He also speaks affectionately about his family, describing his wife as “the best wife in the world.” And when lunchtime comes around at Hillview, there is one meal he particularly looks forward to: our shepherd’s pie!

For anyone thinking about joining the program, Charles offers some reassuring advice: “Don’t be nervous about talking to people, you’ll be glad when you do.”
