About Doug

Doug has been coming to the Adult Day Health Center at Manor on the Hill for about a year and a half, and it has truly become a place he looks forward to each week. One of the things Doug enjoys most is the weekly field trips to local stores and the live music events at the center, which always bring energy, laughter, and joy to his day.

Just as important to Doug are the friendships he’s made along the way. He loves spending time talking with friends at the center, sharing stories, and feeling part of a community that truly values him. And when it comes to mealtime, Doug will be the first to tell you, the salmon is his favorite!

Doug also brings a special talent to Manor on the Hill. In the past, he served as the Director of the Michigan Chess Tournament Association, and he is proud to share that passion with others. Doug has taught both team members and fellow participants how to play chess, offering not just instruction, but patience, encouragement, and connection.

At the Adult Day Health Center at Manor on the Hill, Doug isn’t just attending a program, he’s sharing his gifts, building friendships, and continuing to do what he loves in a place where he feels welcomed and appreciated.
