A Day at Hillview Adult Day Health Center in Leominster, MA

Older adults enjoying a jigsaw puzzle together around a table.

Exploring adult day health for someone you love can bring plenty of questions. What will they do all day? Will they feel comfortable? Will there be people they can connect with?

At Hillview Adult Day Health Center in Leominster, our days bring together companionship, engaging activities, nutritious meals and caring support. While activities vary, here is a look at what participants can expect.

1. A Warm Welcome and Time to Settle In

The day begins with a friendly welcome and an opportunity to catch up with others. Breakfast provides time to settle in, enjoy a meal and ease into the morning.

For someone who spends much of their time at home, having somewhere to go and familiar people to see can become a welcome part of their routine.

2. Gentle Movement to Start the Morning

Chair exercise gives participants an opportunity to get moving in a supportive group setting. Activities accommodate different abilities, encouraging everyone to take part at a level that feels comfortable.

It is also a chance to share a few smiles and enjoy being active together.

3. Activities That Make Room for Different Interests

Some people enjoy crafts and puzzles. Others look forward to music, games or a lively conversation.

Our activity team plans a variety of opportunities for participants to get involved, express themselves and spend time with others. We take time to learn about each person’s interests, helping them find things they enjoy.

4. A Nutritious Lunch Shared with Others

Lunchtime brings everyone together for a freshly prepared meal and conversation around the table.

Hillview provides nutritious meals with guidance from a licensed dietitian, with support for individual dietary needs. For families concerned about a loved one skipping meals or eating alone, this can be a reassuring part of the day.

5. Caring Support Along the Way

Alongside meals and activities, Hillview has licensed nursing staff and trained team members available to support participants throughout the day.

Care is guided by each participant’s individual needs, with communication between our team, caregivers and healthcare providers helping everyone stay informed.

6. An Afternoon of Connection and Enjoyment

The afternoon offers more opportunities to spend time together. Depending on the day, participants might enjoy bingo, crafts, singing, dancing or a movie, followed by an afternoon snack before heading home.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the simplest: a shared laugh, a favorite song or a conversation with a new friend.

Supporting Participants and Their Families

Adult day health can give participants a regular place to connect while providing family caregivers with time to work, attend appointments or take a break.

Attendance can be arranged around individual needs and approved days. Transportation is also available for eligible participants in Leominster, Fitchburg and surrounding communities.
